Whale Watching in Los Cabos

I visited Los Cabos in January.  I was lucky enough to go whale watching twice.  These photos are from those two outings as well as around the hotel (Riu Palace) and Cabo San Lucas Harbor

Under the Sea: St. Thomas

A few years ago, I went on a cruise.  I didn’t like the short stops in each location.  I did enjoy zip lining in Puerto Rico and snorkling with the rays in the Turks and Caicos.

One of the most special parts of the trip when in St. Thomas.  We went on a Seatrek which involves absolutely zero skill but allows you to walk under the sea (in a confined area) and enjoy the fishes and just the sensation of being under water but in a very safe environment.

Walking with the fishes!

One of the coolest experiences I’ve ever had… walking under the water in St. Thomas.

For the Love of Elephants

Elephants have been my favourite animal since I did a project on them in the 3rd or 4th grades.  I was privileged to see many in the wild when I went on safari in Kenya in 1989.

In 2004, I visited Thailand with a very good friend, Sandra.   I’d found a link to an interesting looking elephant sanctuary on the internet, but since you can’t always be sure of quality, we just arranged to a day trip, even though you could book up to two weeks as a “volunteer elephant helper”.

The day there was magical and, of course, I immediately booked to return the following year for a 2 week visit.  www.elephantnaturepark.org is a wonder place run by the incomparable Lek who had devoted her life not just on helping the elephants, but educating others.
